My journey in social care didn’t start in an office; it started on the floor as a Bank Care Assistant. I know what it’s like to work the long shifts, to navigate the complexities of person-centred care in real-time, and to feel the weight of responsibility that comes with supporting vulnerable people.
Over the nearly two decades that followed, I climbed every rung of the ladder - moving through frontline and management roles into the boardroom as a Director of Operations, before becoming an Independent Consultant. Along the way, I’ve seen the industry from every possible angle: the challenges of recruitment, working through the uncertainty and emotional toll of the COVID pandemic, the pressures of CQC inspections, and the vital importance of robust governance.

I launched Ethica Consulting (following four successful years as an Independent Consultant and Sole Trader, known as A Tighe Consultant) because I saw a gap in the market for something different. I saw providers - especially smaller businesses and charitable organisations - struggling to keep up with the "box-ticking" and one-size-fits-all quality and compliance culture that often felt disconnected from the reality of daily care. I believe that compliance shouldn't be a source of fear. It should be the natural result of a healthy, ethical, and well-supported service.
My mission is to be your "Critical Friend." I provide the high-level strategic oversight you’d expect from a Director of Operations, but with the practical, "boots on the ground" understanding of a frontline Care Assistant and Registered Manager. My carefully selected team and I don't just tell you what the regulations say; we help you implement them in a way that is affordable, sustainable, and actually works for you and your team.
Outside of consulting, I am a Father and Step-Father of five, active Attorney for family members, and provide ad-hoc support as a Care Assistant in various service settings across the UK, as I choose to keep grounded and working on the frontline. I understand the "juggle" - the delicate balance of running and leading a business while showing up for your family. This personal reality drives my commitment to making compliance achievable. I want to help you build systems that don't just pass inspections, but systems that allow your managers to lead with confidence and your staff to focus on what they do best: caring.
